 ur Community Library was founded in 1974.  It was first housed upstairs in the community hall, then moved to a room in the school and is currently housed within the Mackenzie County office building.
Our Library operates under the Mackenzie County Library Board, which represents all libraries within the Mackenzie County; the libraries represented are Fort Vermilion, La Crete and the Zama Community Libraries.
Our local Library Committee, which meets on average every couple of months, is made up of caring individuals who oversee the operation of the Library. Through our small yearly budget, fund raising and generous local donations we have succeeded in maintaining a fairly large book, reference and video library with over 2,000 titles. We also computer services and internet access.

November until end of April, the Library will also be open Monday' s & Wednesday's 7:00 - 9:00 pm. We have been able to add a few more hours per week, in order to serve our patrons better.
Membership Rates:
Our library offers FREE library membership to residents in Zama. This allows patrons to utilize our facilities (with the exception of Video Lending) with no cost to them. Video Memberships are separate, see rate schedule below. For a full list of library lending rules please see librarian.

Non-Resident Memberships - $45.00 per year. This membership allows non-residents access to all services of the library including, book and video lending and internet usage.
We know that the non-resident memberships are a change, but due to the large volume of non-resident patrons, and the level and costs of services that you receive with this membership. We are sure that for about $3.35 per month, you will definitly get your money worth!!
Services We Provide:
- Book Lending - browse through our extensive selection
- Video Lending - with over 2,000 titles to choose from
- Periodicals - weekly and monthly magazines, some for in-library usage only
- Internet & Email Services - small printing fees may apply - HiSpeed Internet supplied through Alberta Super Net.
- Tourism Central - local tourism stop, all the information you'll need for your next vacation
- Scheduled events such as reading hour, puppet shows, crafts, etc. (when staffing permits)
